Investment stokvel · Est. 2026
Build wealth.
Build legacy.
Most South Africans save alone. We invest together: R500 a month from every member, pooled and invested under a signed constitution.
Why a stokvel. Why now.
Pooling money gives us access to assets that one person's budget cannot reach alone. BBS is built for the next generation of South African investors: disciplined and transparent.
Pooled every year in SA stokvels
NASASA, 2024 sector estimate
South Africans take part
Across about 810,000 stokvels
More capital than saving alone
Example: 30 members × R500 a month
Vision & mission
Long-term, generational wealth through the disciplined power of collective investing.
We want to show that ordinary South Africans, acting together with structure and integrity, can build extraordinary wealth over a lifetime.
Invest together across shares, precious metals, crypto and cash.
With transparency, good governance and discipline.
- Spread across four asset classes
- Governed by a signed constitution
- Reported to members every month
How it works
A simple monthly cycle, built for discipline.
Contribute
Each member pays at least R500 a month into the BBS group bank account.
Pool
Money is held in the BBS group account, never in any one person's personal account.
Invest
The Investment Committee invests the pool every quarter across shares, metals, crypto and cash, as the mandate sets out.
Report
Monthly statements, quarterly performance reviews and an independent check every six months.
The contribution model
Small on your own. Powerful together.
| Due date | The 25th of every month, with a grace period until the 7th of the next month |
|---|---|
| 1 to 5 days after the 7th | R50 penalty |
| 6 to 14 days after the 7th | R100 penalty |
| 15 days or more | Counted as a missed contribution |
| Lock-in period | 12-month minimum commitment |
| Extra money | Voluntary top-ups are welcome at any time |
The investment mandate
Four pillars, spread out for resilience and long-term growth.
Platforms & partners
BBS money is held with regulated, licensed institutions, never with an individual.
FNB
Group bank account in the BBS name. Larger payments need more than one signatory.
EasyEquities
Licensed provider for local and offshore shares, with a full record of every trade.
SA Mint / FNB
Physical bullion bought through accredited dealers, stored in bank custody where possible.
Luno / VALR
South African crypto exchanges with full FICA checks and transaction reporting.
NASASA
The National Stokvel Association of South Africa, for sector recognition and help with disputes.
FICA & FSCA
We keep full member records, and the financial providers we use are FSCA-licensed.
5-year growth projection
Three scenarios, one discipline: steady monthly contributions, compounded.
30 members × R500 × 60 months
A cautious return
Long-run SA share market benchmark
Above-benchmark performance
These figures are examples, not promises. Returns are not guaranteed, and past performance does not predict future results. Real outcomes depend on how many members there are, whether everyone pays on time, and how the markets perform.
Governance structure
Seven defined roles. Three signatories. One signed constitution.
Chairperson
Runs meetings, represents BBS and casts the deciding vote.
Treasurer
Keeps all financial records and the bank and investment accounts.
Secretary
Minutes, communication, FICA records and beneficiary nominations.
Financial Controller
Checks every calculation and payment before it is approved.
Compliance Officer
Makes sure we follow the constitution, NASASA, FICA and FSCA rules.
Investment Committee
At least three members. Reviews and approves every investment.
Auditor
Independently checks all BBS financial reports every six months.
Members
Every member votes. No one person can make an investment decision alone.
Routine decisions
Investment changes and member removals
Changes to the constitution, or closing the stokvel
Risk management
Risk is the foundation, not an afterthought. Six controls protect the pool.
Diversification
Money is spread across four different asset classes, so one market cannot sink the pool.
More than one signatory
No single person can move money above the agreed limit. Office-bearers sign together.
Independent audit
Every six months the Auditor checks the books, separately from the Treasurer.
Conflicts of interest
Members declare any personal interest in writing and do not vote on it.
Signed constitution
A binding document that sets every rule, limit and protection. Adopted on 19 March 2026.
Banned investments
No leveraged products, no forex speculation and no unlisted securities. The constitution forbids them.
Member protections
Your money is protected by structure, by process and by law.
Beneficiary nomination
Every member names a beneficiary when they join. If a member dies, their full contributions plus returns are paid to their estate within 30 to 90 days.
Emergency withdrawal
For proven medical, bereavement or legal emergencies, the Chairperson and Treasurer can release up to 50% of a member's balance within 48 to 72 hours.
Annual withdrawal
From April 2027, each member may make one withdrawal per calendar year, with 30 days' written notice.
Proportional returns
Profits are shared in proportion to what each member has paid in. Pay in more, earn a bigger share.
Monthly reporting
Every member gets a checked financial statement within 7 days of each month-end.
A clear dispute path
First internal mediation, then an independent mediator, then NASASA. Legal action only with a 70% member vote, as a last resort.
Questions & answers
What new and current members ask us most.
When do we have meetings?
On the last Sunday of every month at 4pm.
When are contributions due?
On the 25th of every month. Members have until the 7th of the next month to pay.
Where do I pay my contribution?
Into the BBS group account at FNB. Banking details are shared directly with members once they have joined. Never pay into a personal account, and always check banking details with an office-bearer.
What details do I need when I pay?
Your full name and surname as the reference, and proof of address sent by email.
Do members get profits after 12 months?
BBS is a long-term investment of 3 to 5 years. If the stokvel is profitable, members can vote together to share out some of the profits.
Is the stokvel FICA registered?
A stokvel does not have to register under FICA. We still keep all the required member information, so that records are complete and administration is done properly.
What member information do you collect?
Identity documents, proof of residence and next-of-kin details. Next-of-kin details are kept for administration, emergencies and continuity.
Do you have a constitution?
Yes. BBS runs under a formal constitution that covers administration, how decisions are made and what members are responsible for.
How are investment decisions made?
By a formal vote. A decision only passes once the quorum in the constitution has been reached. No one person can make an investment decision alone.
Who manages the money?
The members manage it together, according to the constitution and the resolutions members approve.
How do people join?
BBS does not advertise or recruit. Membership is voluntary, and most members join through referrals and people they already know.
Founding members build the foundation.
The next generation inherits it.
